While it may be known as the home of the Hayden/Yampa Regional Airport, Hayden still has the Colorado small-town charm that attracts visitors from great distances.

Location

The town of Hayden, Colorado is located 25 miles west of Steamboat Springs, in the north central part of the state.

Services/Amenities

As often happens with small towns, services may be limited, but people make up for it with quality. There are a number of restaurants, a bar and even a hotel to spend the night.

Because of the short distance, the majority of services are located in the Steamboat Springs area. Services not available in Hayden will be found in the larger city nearby.

Activities

Yampa River State Park has its headquarters just outside of Hayden. This park stretches 134 miles along the river, all the way through Dinosaur National Monument. If you're planning some time on the river, this is where you will likely start. There are also camping and RV sites available.

Located just south of town, Dry Creek Park offer 20 acres of trails for winter snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, as well as nature walking whenever the mood hits and the weather is right.

Attractions

Hayden, CO is located between arms of the Routt and White River National Forests, which means the outdoor activities are just a short drive away. This includes fishing, hiking, camping, snowshoeing and skiing, just to name a few.

Access will be to the more remote sections of the National Forests, meaning less traffic and more nature.

Getting Here

To get to Steamboat Springs from Hayden, drive east for approximately 25 miles on US-40, which leads directly into town.
