Although Steamboat Springs is located in a remote mountainous area in Colorado, it is relatively easy to get to. Nearby airports, car rentals, and a great public transportation system allow for easy access to this summer and winter destination.

There are two airports serving the Steamboat Springs, Colorado area. The Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN) is located 22 miles west of Steamboat Springs in Hayden, Colorado. Yampa Valley Regional has commercial airline service and can accommodate General Aviation aircraft as well. The Steamboat Springs Airport Bob Adams Field (SBS) is located 1-1/2 miles northwest of downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Steamboat Springs Airport serves only General Aviation aircraft, and has NO commercial airline service. Denver International Airport is about a three hour drive from Steamboat Springs, but flights tend to be less expensive and more frequent.

If you are driving into the area, make sure to check road conditions and any pass closures. Another great option is taking a bus to Steamboat Springs. Once you arrive in Steamboat Springs, there is a fantastic transportation system within the town. Steamboat Springs Transit (SST) provides free and frequent travel within city limits. There are also taxis, limos, and car rentals available in Steamboat Springs.

Whether you fly, drive, or take a bus, Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a great place to visit any time of year.
