The mountains of Steamboat Springs receive an average of almost 30 feet of snowfall each winter. That means many perfect powder days for skiing to your heart's content. Steamboat is famous for some of the driest and fluffiest snow in any resort town the world over. Did you know that the snow is so good, the term "Champagne Powder" was coined just to describe it? Experts have actually measured Steamboat's snow and found it has 70% less moisture content than normal snow.

Mountain information: Steamboat is a full mountain range that includes Mount Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Pioneer Ridge, and Christie Peak. The mountains offer over 2,900 acres (1,176 hectares) of terrain with a wide range of trails suitable for many different ability levels. Plus, Steamboat Resort boasts the famous Mavericks Superpipe - the longest on the continent. It's 650 feet long, 50-feet wide, has 15-foot walls, and sports a 17-foot radius.
