Summit County Colorado
Summit County lies relatively close to Steamboat Springs, and with its pristine environment merits a stay or at least a visit. Summit County is a unique area that includes four world-class ski areas, beautiful Lake Dillon, and year-round fun family activities in the White River National Forest. The best kept secret in Summit County, Colorado is that there is actually more to do in the summer than in the winter!
When the winter snows melt away, Summit County and the Vail Valley come
alive with an abundance of activities imagine. If you're adventurous,
there are hiking and mountain bike trails that reach the many mountain
summits, with quite a few approaching 14,000 feet in elevation. For
less strenuous activity, you might paddle a canoe in one of the many
lakes, cast your line in one of the gold medal trout streams, or ride a
horse to an abandoned gold mine.
Of course, you don't have to do anything to enjoy the summer in this
Rocky Mountain paradise. You might just want to read a book by a
stream, watch the sailboat races form the shores of Lake Dillon, or
stroll through the many shops to find that perfect souvenir.
The area is extremely popular with Colorado residents and tourists.
Lodging accommodations are as much as half the price of the same
accommodations during the ski season. Although the summer tourist
business is steadily growing in Summit County, it's pale in comparison
to the number of winter visitors. As a result you'll find a casual,
relaxing and pleasant atmosphere during the summer months.
