Steamboat Springs Music & Theatre

With roots deeply embedded in Western traditions and the economics of ranching, one would not expect Steamboat Springs Colorado to be a very cultured town. However, the area boasts of several art galleries, a chamber based music festival, live theater and an extraordinary-large number of local artists.

Each summer the mountains come alive with the signs and sounds of an annual music festival which includes numerous artists performing a wide assortment of shows, and youth and family productions. There are also year round art displays at several art depots, and museums.

If you want to learn more about the performing arts, the oldest and most unique performing arts school and camp is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains at Steamboat. The camp offers classes each summer to young dancers, actors and actresses. And you can also find opera in the area in the form of a local opera group which produces professional caliber opera in the heart of the Yampa Valley. There is also a ballet company, a community theatre, a dance theatre and a chamber orchestra.
