Ongoing Winter Events
Ongoing winter activities in Steamboat Springs are about more than just skiing. In fact, Steamboat offers of plethora of other winter activities the whole family can enjoy.
Cowboy Downhill
This activity is a town favorite that started 32 years ago when Billy Kidd (Steamboat's Director of Skiing) and Larry Mahan (World Champion cowboy) decided to invite some Pro Rodeo stars to town to go skiing. Everyone had so much fun that this event has transformed into the most popular attraction in town, with more than 100 of the highest caliber professional rodeo cowboys competing in a very unique ski rodeo.
Winter Carnival
One of the biggest and oldest winter sports clubs in the U.S is the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. It hosts the annual Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival, which is a carnival that has been around for many years. It lasts for 5 days, during which time the whole town becomes all about racing, ski jumping, chariot racing, and more.
Cardboard Classic
The Cardboard Classic is the town of Steamboat's annual celebration of spring, which features homemade crafts made out cardboard, glue, string, paint, and tape that race down the face of Headwall in a ridiculous, but fun, race.
It looks like you may have missed it this time around.
