Cardboard Classic

Steamboat's annual rite of spring involves six key ingredients: glue, string, water-based paint, duct tape, masking tape, and cardboard. Put it all together in the most imaginative figure you can think of and you have yourself a reason to be in Steamboat Springs Annual Cardboard Classic. The uniqueness and creativity of the race make it an event looked forward to every year.
more infoThe Cardboard Classic is fun for all participants and spectators. Starting with the Cardboard D'Elegance at high noon, take a walk around to look at the 100 entries. Judges award prizes in five categories: Most Creative, Ugliest, Best Individual Craft, Potpourri, and Best Reproduction of a Person, Place, or Thing.
Steamboat will even help provide the cardboard. The rest is up to you. In the finale, each craft tests its speed and durability down Headwall in a head-to-head dual race competition.
Whether you spend your morning, skiing and riding, or taping and painting cardboard, make sure to stop by and soak in the funky and festive cardboard inspired atmosphere in the afternoon.
