Steamboat Lake State Park

Picnicking
Picnicking is just one of the activities you can enjoy here. Picnic sites are located at the Placer Cove day-use area, Tombstone Nature Trailhead, Sage Flats day-use area, and the Dutch Hill Marina area.
Trails
There are many trails in this park that let you get up close and personal with a wide variety of wildlife such as mule deer, fox, beaver, chipmunks, many different birds, as well as beautiful wildflowers. The Routt National Forest is located nearby as well; it offers many hiking, mountain biking, and four-wheel driving opportunities.
Tombstone Nature Trail
This trail covers a 1.1 mile loop. The trail begins at Placer Cove Day Use Area and affords views of Steamboat Lake and the area's natural features and history.
Willow Creek Trail
This trail connects the Dutch Hill/Marina area to the Sunrise Vista Campground. It travels toward the Visitor Center along 2 1/2 miles of hiking. Once you depart from the Visitor Center, the trail goes for 1.3 miles to the Sage Flats Day Use Area.
