Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway
The Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway is an example of the White River National Forest's tradition of multiple-use land management. The byway is an example of beautiful, untouched scenery and is full of wildlife.
Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway is not what you'd expect in a recreational destination. It is a working byway with timber-producing woodlands, active mines, and ranches. It's also the location of a museum, a multitude of outdoor activities, and gorgeous landscapes. A trek through the byway will lead you into the wonderful splendor of the Rocky Mountains.
Cutting through the middle of the original White River Plateau Timberland Reserve from the late 19th century, the byway has long been subject to local preservation laws put in place for the protection of the natural resources in the area. The unique aspect of the byway, however, is that sections continue to be used in a way that doesn't disturb the environment. Meeker and Yampa are the route's two endpoints.
The White River National Forest sits in the midst of the Rockies, and is the country's top recreation forest. It offers visitors a wide range of activities such as challenging hiking, fishing, and more. Tourists love the atmosphere of the place, which has a peacefulness you can't find anywhere else.
