Located in northwest Colorado, Steamboat Springs is situated 160 miles northwest of Denver. This town is a popular haunt for ski enthusiasts from around the world, even though it started out as a summer resort.
In the early 1900s Steamboat Springs was a popular destination for people seeking out the natural hot springs, as well as excellent opportunities for hunting and fishing. Today the summer activities you can enjoy here are vast and varied - there are three championship golf courses, an indoor-outdoor tennis center, biking, hiking, kayaking, fly-fishing, and horseback riding.
Located near reservoirs, rivers, wilderness, and four state parks, the town is also home to great boating, fishing, camping, and rafting. In the summer, Steamboat plays host to a professional rodeo series that takes place every weekend from the middle of June to late August.
In addition, enjoy chamber music, jazz, bluegrass and popular music concerts, an opera, art galleries, and historical landmarks. The town's favorite summer events include the Fourth of July Cowboys' Round Up Days, Rainbow Weekend's Balloon Rodeo, and Art in the Park. There's something for the whole family to enjoy.
